PRESENT – PREdictions for Science, Engineering N’ Technology

In the context of digitization and digital transformation, data is now arising in almost all areas of life, industry and business, and its use can develop considerable economic, scientific, and social potential. However, the professional exploitation of data faces a number of challenges and problems: from the lack of expertise and skilled workers, to the technical challenges of inadequate data integration and interface problems, to the lack of the trust to outsource sensitive data and one’s own expertise to external cloud services and businesses. These issues are addressed by the flagship project PRESENT and solved with a new software architecture with an innovative security-by-design approach that is suitable for even the most sensitive data, that meets all legal and ethics security requirements, and that is so user-friendly that no statistical or computer science experts are needed to operate it. The flagship project goes in-depth and expands the state-of-the-art in the field of security-by-design, but is also broad in scope and supports a number of important industries covered by our use cases: production, healthcare, and buildings. The flagship project will provide a significant impulse both for companies that want to gain a competitive advantage through the use of sensitive data and for the scientific community with visibility far beyond Austria.
