His research interests are in Visual Data Analysis and in applied 3D Object Retrieval. Research questions are how large collections of data, e.g., high-dimensional, spatial-temporal data, and 3D object data, can be visualized and interactively explored for data understanding and decision making. Application areas include visual analysis of engineering and industrial data, multimodal biomedical data, and cultural heritage 3D object data.
