Daniel Watzenig

Daniel Watzenig is a Professor at the Institute of Visual Computing and Head of the Multi-Sensor Perception research group. He is also the CTO of the Virtual Vehicle Research GmbH, an applied research center for sustainable mobility and transport, located in Graz.

Additional Information

His research interests include multi-modal perception and AI-based data fusion, probabilistic robotics, statistical inverse problems, and decision-making under uncertainty for autonomous systems and collaborative multi-agents. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the SAE Int. Journal on Connected and Automated Vehicles (SAE JCAV). Since 2019 he is an invited guest lecturer at Stanford University, US, teaching multi-sensor perception for autonomous systems. Since 2024 he is Vice Chair and Member of the Executive Committee of the IEEE Austria Section. He is an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer in the field of autonomous vehicles, Board Member of the INSIDE Industry Association (European Initiative on Intelligent Digital Systems) and Member of the Academic Advisory Council of PAVE (global Partners for Automated Vehicle Education).
