Thomas Pock is the Head of the Institute of Visual Computing and the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering. Since January 2025 he is a Co-Director of BioTechMed-Graz.

Additional Information

Thomas Pock received his MSc (2004) and PhD (2008) in Computer Engineering (Telematik) from Graz University of Technology. After a post-doc at the University of Bonn, he returned to Graz University of Technology as Assistant Professor at the Institute of Computer Graphics and Vision. In 2013, he was awarded the START prize by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) and the German Pattern Recognition Award (DAGM). In 2014, he received an ERC Starting Grant. Since 2014, he is Professor of Computer Science at Graz University of Technology, leading the Vision, Learning and Optimization (VLO) group. From May 2019 to December 2024, he has been a member (reporter) of the board of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) responsible for computer science. His research focuses on image processing, computer vision, inverse problems, convex and non-smooth optimization, and machine learning.
